What the ingredient order actually tells you

• The gap between name and list is the widest on this page. The named hero, hyaluronic acid, appears once, at 36th of 44. The unnamed workhorse, niacinamide, sits second.
• Of the front-label trio, panthenol at 14th is the only one respectably placed. Ceramide sits 43rd, the second-to-last entry.
• Credit where due: no fragrance appears on the list, and the only alcohol is cetearyl at 13th, a waxy emulsifier rather than the drying kind.

Our read

This is a niacinamide moisturizer in a hyaluronic acid costume. As a light, unfragranced daily cream it looks perfectly sensible, and niacinamide at second is a genuine feature. Just know which ingredient you are actually buying, because it is not the one on the front of the tub.

Who should skip this

• Ceramide barrier care is your goal. A single ceramide entry at 43rd of 44 is not a ceramide cream.
• Niacinamide does not agree with your skin. Here it sits second, so there is no avoiding it.
• You take the marathon hydration figure in the name literally. The list reads as a normal light moisturizer, not a special reservoir.
